Position Purpose:

This position will report to the General Manager of Sales and will be responsible for establishing a newly defined territory and building customer relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities:

o Makes personal sales calls at customer sites on a regular basis

· Industries: Construction, Paper, Tissue, Machine Shop, Municipal, Excavator, Steel, Food and Large Manufacturing

· Customer Contacts: Operations Manager, Plant Supervisor, Tool Crib Manager, EHS Environmental – Health – Safety Supervisor, Purchasing Manager, Owner, and Maintenance Manager

o Seeks out perspective custom/business opportunities with new and existing customers

o Establishes and maintains customer relationships in order to grow profitable sales

o Stay current on existing and emerging product and technologies

o Introduces and demonstrates new products to assigned accounts

o Follows up on all generated quotations to assure that the customer is being served and to document the outcome of the proposed solution

o Generate profitable sales orders

o Reports competitive conditions and feedback from customers to management

o Maintains ethical, cooperative manufacturer relationships consistent with company image and company branch goals in the marketplace

o Cooperates with qualified suppliers to secure mutual business through joint calls

o Attends product training classes to develop superior product knowledge to handle customer applications

o Develops an effective and productive working relationship with inside Sales Staff, Service/Inspection Department Staff, and Production Staff; participates with all to gain knowledge and encourages and assist with their training and development when possible.

o Executes sales efforts in an ethical and professional manner, assuring a favorable impression of self and the company.

o Maintains a professional working image in self and work.

o Completes sales calls and expense reports on a timely basis in accordance with company policy

o Fulfills customer needs for current literature, catalogs, product pricing, etc.

o Assists customers with problem solving, takeoffs, project layout/design, pricing, and project management

o Develop and maintain a sales forecast to help analyze market conditions and/or changes in assigned territory for maximum productivity and sales growth

o Implement a sales plan to support sales and profitability goals

o Coordinates customer returns and completes proper documents on a timely basis

o Informs customers of all relevant company policies / procedures and initiatives. Reporting customer comments to management

o Routinely communicates schedule to GM of Sales.

o Performs other duties as instructed or required to successfully complete the job

Qualifications

o Bachelors degree in sales or closely related field with three (3) years of relevant sales and industry experience or equivalent combined education and on the job experience

o Commitment to demonstration of high ethical standards governing professional behavior and interactions

o Proven proficiency in the use of a personal computer accompanied by a strong aptitude for technical applications

o Demonstrated time management and organizational skills

o Develop knowledge of the industry within a given market

o Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats, including sales presentations, demonstrated capability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships and work in a team environment

o Strong customer service orientation

o Valid driver license with no OWI / DUI convictions, must show proven safe driving record

o Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, etc.

Physical Ability Requirements:

o Ability to visit and move around at customer facilities, construction and other work sites, including the ability to maneuver in tight or small places

o Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time including as a driver or passenger in an automobile

o Ability to use a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone for long periods of time

o Ability to lift, carry, and otherwise transport work related materials.
